3D modeling pricing ranges from $150 for a simple product model to $30,000+ for a complex animated scene. The right rate depends on the polygon count, texture complexity, rigging requirements, and final output format — render, animation, or real-time game asset. | Product Model (simple) | $150 – $400 | $400 – $900 | $900 – $2,000 | $2,000 – $5,000 |
| Character / Organic Model | $300 – $900 | $900 – $2,500 | $2,500 – $6,000 | $6,000 – $15,000 |
| Architectural Visualization | $400 – $1,200 | $1,200 – $3,500 | $3,500 – $9,000 | $9,000 – $25,000 |
| 3D Scene / Animation | $500 – $1,500 | $1,500 – $5,000 | $5,000 – $12,000 | $12,000 – $30,000+ |
These factors most influence 3D modeling pricing.
A low-poly game asset takes a fraction of the time of a high-fidelity product model with subdivision surfaces, PBR textures, and multiple material layers. Define polygon budget and texture resolution upfront.
A static model is scoped differently from a rigged character ready for animation. Rigging adds significant time, and animation adds even more. Price modeling, rigging, and animation as separate line items.
Basic flat textures, procedural materials, and hand-painted textures represent increasing levels of effort. Photorealistic PBR materials with normal maps, roughness maps, and ambient occlusion take 2-3x longer than simple colour materials.
Delivering raw 3D files is different from delivering final renders with lighting, environment, and post-processing. Specify whether rendering is included and how many final images or animation frames are in scope.
Delivering OBJ or FBX is standard. Optimising for a specific game engine (Unity, Unreal), AR platform, or web renderer (Three.js, Babylon.js) requires additional export testing and often mesh optimisation.
Modeling from a detailed technical drawing is faster than modeling from a rough sketch or verbal description. Charge more when you're responsible for interpreting ambiguous references or making design decisions.
